I am an average American citizen and this blog is based in my personal opinions. I will tell you up front that politically I am a Constitutional Conservative and my views will not agree with everyone. I am open to a respectful discussion, but will not tolerate abusive comments. That being said, here goes nothing.
Our current political climate is repugnant to me. The ridiculous name calling, bashing of wives, abuse of reporters and citizens alike. Politics has always been a dirty business, but for some reason this election cycle has become a free for all. I fear for our country and what we are becoming as a people.
I am truly concerned that there will be no coming back if this country does not wake up and see what is really going on. Politics is corrupt, this is nothing new, but this endless reality show that we are experiencing today is even worse, People who use every connections they have to smear the opposition, but are never in the wrong. A man who has used every possible benefit that the government and regulation will allow in order to make a profit is poised to be the GOP nominee. How can a party that is supposed to be for smaller government and lower taxes have fallen so far. It isn't any better on the Democratic side either.
Hilliary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are essentially the same, the only differences are that he freely states that he is a Socialist. She on the other hand denies this all the while supporting the same big government policies that got us into this mess in the first place. While I pretty much disagree with everything this party values, at least they appear to be running a much cleaner race than the GOP, for now anyway.
I am tired of waking up everyday to another round of the Donald on the news saying the same old things, but nothing really substantive. Yes, I am a Cruz supporter, but that doesn't mean that I am close minded. I would be more than happy to listen to Trump's plans, if he would actually put a plan forth that makes sense. This country cannot survive on name calling and self promotion alone. We are in real trouble and need real solutions. This nation needs to turn back to it's foundation and founding principles.
In a world where the Kardashians are role models for our youth, it is no surprise that many support the most fringe candidates in either party. Bernie Sanders is basically Santa Claus, if you ask for it you will probably get it and what's more it will be free. Mr. Sanders where do you think the money for this will come from. Taxes are always the answer, however you eventually will run out of income to tax and then where will we be. A country with nothing of value because all of our businesses will have moved away to avoid the taxation so where will all these freely educated young people work? I don't know and I don't think you do either.
As for Mr. Trump, I really don't know what to do with him. He keeps saying that he has plans, but every time he begins talking about anything of substance he heads off in a different direction before making any concrete statements. I am tired of being told that he has a plan and that I will love it. Frankly I don't even like the man. He has said that Mexico will pay for the wall and the wall will be huge just doesn't do it for me. I live in Texas and know that we have a border problem, but we have to be realistic in what can actually be done to solve the issue. His campaign manager continually abuses dissenters as well as reporters at rallies. Trump promotes violence by the things he says, but denies responsibility when violence occurs. It has not escaped my notice that Trump seems to be more interested in making deals with the left, which is what put us in this dreadful place already. What's really needed are some good old fashioned values and morals.
I know I have rambled throughout this post, sorry for that. I just feel so frustrated with the direction this election seems to be heading. I leave you with this. May we all examine what our true values are and vote where they lead us to vote. Hopefully this election will not create a greater divide in our nation and that we can begin to heal some of the wounds we have sustained through this process.
